Much has changed since June 5th, the date of my first and only post. Typical, Alex. Some recent events have lit a figurative spark under my you-know-what, and I have since resolved to dedicate more time to developing my online presence (blog; website; twitter; self-promotion in general). I have found that setting goals and timelines for myself is key, as no one else is likely to set them for me. That, and making lists. I find an immense satisfaction in checking things off my to-do list. The very act of crossing things out is motivation enough to complete the task. (I think I have a mild form of OCD.)
The deadline for a fully functioning website is Thursday, October 14, 2010. Once that’s up, I plan on investigating WordPress a bit further and its customization capabilities.
Today, I am going to show you the first few drafts of a project I’ve been working on. A friend of a friend, Joey, asked me to illustrate a cover for his band. Somewhere Violet describes its sound as a combination of Owl City and My Chemical Romance, and they’re hella excited about their new album, Action, which will be released on iTunes and Amazon on Halloween.
After Joey selected these two of the initial sketches, I made another rendition combining them:
Many a phone call and screenshot later, we’ve arrived at final artwork which we are both extremely pleased with. I will refrain from showing the world until their grand release, when I’ll be sure to continue this post! Until then, be sure to check them out!
And now, it is officially zombie pub crawl attire shopping time!
